The university offer has been strengthened in the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, by the inauguration Saturday of the Higher School of Technology (EST) of Dakhla under the University Ibn Zohr of Agadir.


With a capacity of 1,000 students, this institution which required a budget of nearly 40 million DH (MDH), supported to the tune of 12 MDH by the Regional Council, is part of the diversification of the university offer of the region and will expand the educational horizons of students, opening to new specializations.


The EST Dakhla, whose studies will be initiated at the start of the next academic year 2021-2022, tends to ensure quality training that meets the expectations of students on the one hand and contribute to the development of the socio-economic environment of the region on the other.


Built on an overall area estimated at 12,840 m2, this institution is equipped with modern teaching tools, in addition to the realization of an amphitheater for 250 seats, classrooms, administration, a sports field and toilet blocks.


On this occasion, explanations were provided on the curriculum of the training provided by this school, before making a tour in the various dependencies and facilities of this training institution.


In a statement to MAP, the Secretary General of the Department of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mohamed Khalfaoui stressed that the EST Dakhla which will strengthen the university offer in the region will offer training technicians in three areas, namely computer science, management techniques and electrical engineering.


These courses are likely to accompany the development experienced by the region, ensuring the qualification of human capital at local, regional and national levels, continued Mr. Khalfaoui, noting that this structure will have an important role in promoting scientific research and will constitute a university core, alongside the National School of Business and Management (ENCG) in Dakhla.


For his part, the president of the University Ibn Zohr, Abdelaziz Bendou, said that this university institution is part of the strategic royal vision focused on the establishment of university structures in each province, including the southern provinces, to support and encourage scientific research.


This structure which aims to promote higher education in this region, tends to train graduates in various fields such as computer science and electrical engineering, noted Mr. Bendou, noting that students from African communities established in Dakhla will benefit from the services of this school, with a view to accompanying the diplomatic presence in the region.


This academic institution was inaugurated in the presence of the wali of the region of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab, governor of the province of Oued Eddahab, Lamine Benomar and the President of the Regional Council, the Director General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), Salem Ben Mohamed El Malek, as well as the Secretaries General of the Departments of National Education and Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research.


This initiative is part of the provisions of the framework law No. 51-17 on the system of education, training and scientific research, aimed, among other things, to ensure learning opportunities and lifelong learning and facilitate the conditions for access and strengthen the school and university structures.


Similarly, it is to implement the site of advanced regionalization and ensure territorial justice, while promoting economic growth and development of human resources in the southern regions, in accordance with the strategic vision of HM King Mohammed VI for the development of the southern provinces of the Kingdom.
