Former Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Piqué has criticized his country following its decision to host secretly and under a false identity the man named Brahim Ghali, leader of the polisario separatists.

Moroccan Ambassador to Spain Karima Benyaich deplored, on Thursday, "the false facts" and "inappropriate remarks" made by the Spanish Foreign Minister.

Spain is called upon to rethink its position on the Sahara issue in the new geopolitical context marked by the decision of the United States to recognize the sovereignty of Morocco over the southern provinces, former Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo said.

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration of the Republic of Ghana, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey lauded on Tuesday the Kingdom's efforts to reach a negotiated political solution to the regional dispute over the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.

The decision of Spain to "roll out the red carpet (…) to the leader of the separatists, is a pure and simple offence made to Morocco", underlined the President-Founder of the Crans Montana Forum, Jean-Paul Carteron, pointing out that the Iberian country, by this decision, has put itself "in a position that we can hardly understand".
