The Sahara autonomy plan presented by Morocco for the final settlement of the Sahara issue is based on different experiences and universally recognized international standards, said on Sunday the Jordanian daily "Al-Sabil”.

Morocco's autonomy plan, which is supported by the international community, is the "only realistic path" to end the conflict over the Sahara, US daily New York Times reported on Friday.

The autonomy of the southern provinces proposed by Morocco is "an advanced form of self-determination in the 21st century ", and the only "serious and credible" way to end the Sahara conflict, said Moulay Ahmed M’Ghizlat and Miss Maoulainine Saadani, members of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS). 

The independence of the Sahara could result in a dependent, inept and chaotic territory failed state dominated by Al Qaida, an entity known for its preference for sanctuaries in weak or failed states, U.S. paper World Tribune warned.

US "Commentary Magazine" highlighted on Thursday the legitimacy of Morocco's initiative to grant substantial autonomy to its Southern provinces (the Sahara), while stressing the support of the international community to this plan.
