The serious human rights abuses committed by Polisario in Tindouf camps were denounced Saturday in Santiago by participants in an international academic seminar on the Moroccan Sahara, organized at the initiative of the Center of Maghreb Studies for the Americas, based in the Chilean capital.

The Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs participates with the official delegation of the Kingdom of Morocco at the thirty-eighth session of the United Nations Human Rights Council which takes place from June 18 to July 6, 2018, at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Mail & Guardian, South Africa's widely circulated daily, criticized South Africa's position on the Sahara issue on Tuesday, pointing out that by joining Polisario separatists, Pretoria is contradicting itself with the majority of African countries.

The Moroccan Autonomy Initiative for the Sahara region was strongly supported by a majority of member states of the Committee of 24, Subsidiary Body of the UN General Assembly. This Initiative, described as serious and credible by the Security Council since 2007, seeks to reach a negotiated and definitive political solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

The College of Commissioners adopted, Monday, the exchange of letters which includes the Moroccan Sahara in the agriculture agreement between Morocco and the European Union (EU), said the European Commission.
