In his report to the Security Council on the Moroccan Sahara, the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres noted that his Personal Envoy for the Sahara, Mr. Horst Köhler, "met with local elected representatives" of southern provinces in Morocco during his tour in June 2018, thus recognizing the legitimacy of these elected and local officials as the only democratically elected representatives of the region.

Gabon reaffirmed, on Monday at the UN General Assembly, that the Moroccan initiative of autonomy is an ideal framework to reach a solution of compromise that is acceptable to all parties to the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

Bahrain's minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed al-Khalifah, said on Saturday that his country supports Morocco's "serious and credible" efforts to find a political solution to the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, based on the autonomy initiative and related Security Council resolutions, and within the framework of the Kingdom's sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Paraguay fully supports Morocco's territorial integrity, said, on Thursday at UN headquarters in New York, Paraguayan Foreign Minister Luis Alberto Castiglioni.

The Comoros president, Azali Assoumani, reiterated on Tuesday in New York, the commitment of his country to support the territorial integrity of the Kingdom on the regional and international scene.
