The Moroccan people were outraged and hurt by verbal excesses by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon over the Moroccan Sahara.

The states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Jordan reiterated Tuesday in Doha, their support for the autonomy initiative presented by Morocco to resolve the conflict of the Sahara.

“For France, the autonomy plan submitted by Morocco in 2007 represents a serious and credible basis for a negotiated solution” to the Sahara issue, French Foreign Ministry spokesperson Romain Nadal told the press.

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon should get Algeria and Polisario separatists to listen to the voice of reason, Robert Holley, former US diplomat and expert in the region underlined, stressing that they should embrace the virtues of the Sahara Autonomy Plan.

The autonomy initiative in the Moroccan Sahara provides a guarantee for human rights and sustainable development in the southern provinces, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and cooperation Mbarka Bouaida said Wednesday in Geneva.
