The last round of informal on the Sahara issue, held recently in Malta, was a "step forward" in this process, said the United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon.

The sixth round of informal talks on the Sahara, held on March 7-9 in Mellieha ( Malta), was an opportunity to raise a number of observations on the limits of the so-called polisario's proposal, based on obsolete theses regarding their inapplicable reference and content, Morocco's Foreign Minister Taib Fassi Fihri said Thursday in Rabat.

Participants at a conference Monday in Geneva, as part of the 16th session of the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC), stressed that autonomy is a form of self-determination and offers a suitable solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
