 The autonomy plan for of the southern provinces presented by Morocco aims to "promote the emergence of a compromise", reiterated the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Taib Fassi-Fihri, regretting that despite efforts of the Kingdom, described as "credible and serious" by the international community and the Security Council, Algeria and the Polisario "have never expressed" the desire for openness and realism. US urges parties to continue to negotiate in spirit of realism

The United States urged the parties involved in the Sahara issue to "continue to negotiate without preconditions and in good faith with a spirit of realism and compromise toward a just, lasting and mutually-acceptable political solution" of the Sahara issue, hailing the Secretary-General's announcement of Ambassador Christopher Ross as his Personal Envoy to the Sahara.
