President of the Autonomous Government of Catalonia (Spain), José Montilla said on Wednesday that the settlement of the Sahara issue will have "positive" impacts on the countries of the Maghreb region.

Visiting Director of the Diplomatic and Strategic Studies Center of Dakar (CEDS), Babacar Diallo, on Tuesday, stressed that Morocco's initiative to negotiate an autonomy status in the Sahara offers "an extraordinary framework" for settling the 32-year-old conflict, between Morocco and the Algerian-backed Polisario separatists.

German politician and Member of the European Parliament, Erika Mann, deplored that the Polisario separatists continue to act deceitfully vis-à-vis the positive momentum that was created by the Moroccan initiative to negotiate an autonomy status in the Sahara.
