Gabon, which holds the presidency of the UN Security Council for the month of October, reiterated Thursday in New York its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative to end the regional dispute over the Sahara.

The United States reaffirmed, Thursday at the UN Security Council, its support for the Moroccan autonomy plan as a "serious, credible and realistic" solution to definitively close the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

The Kingdom of Morocco welcomes the adoption today by the UN Security Council of resolution 2654 on the Moroccan Sahara issue, which renews the mandate of MINURSO for one year, until the end of October 2023, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates said on Thursday.

The representative of Burkina Faso said before the Fourth Committee of the United Nations General Assembly, "My delegation commends the Moroccan autonomy initiative and reiterates its support.

The Union of Comoros reiterated, in New York, its "full" support to the Moroccan autonomy initiative, calling it "the compromise solution" to resolve the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.
