Guinea-Bissau expressed, Monday in New York, its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative, deeming it the "most realistic and the most pragmatic” solution to settle the regional conflict over the Sahara.

Permanent Representative of Morocco to the UN, ambassador Omar Hilale said in New York that Algeria "has a political agenda that it uses as an outlet for its problems", while Morocco "has a sacred national cause that unites a people and a Monarchy of five centuries”.

The United States reaffirmed Friday in New York its support for the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the "serious, credible and realistic" solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, welcomed, Friday, the resolution 2602 of the UN Security Council, saying it reinforces the achievements of the Kingdom in the Sahara issue, made possible thanks to the personal commitment and permanent monitoring of HM King Mohammed VI.

According to the joint statement issued at the end of their talks, Ramirez informed Bourita "of the instructions given to the new ambassador of Colombia in Rabat, to extend the consular jurisdiction of the Embassy of Colombia in the Kingdom of Morocco on the entire Moroccan territory, including the Sahara”.
