The autonomy initiative presented by Morocco is a "realistic proposal" with a view to finding a solution to the artificial regional dispute around the Moroccan Sahara, writes the Peruvian daily "La Razón".

Norwegian civil society activist Eric Cameron, President of the NGO World Action for Refugees, underlined the imprescriptible responsibility of Algeria for the humanitarian situation in the Tindouf camps in remarks he made for the Sahara Debate, a citizen-run show broadcast on social networks.

Less than 20 pc of the population of the Tindouf camps in southern Algeria is of Sahrawi origin, said Hamada El Bihi, a Moroccan citizen who was detained for 40 years in these camps of shame before returning to the mother country.

Morocco expressed its dismay at the allegations of the spokesman of the Algerian presidency who said Tuesday that "the Moroccan Consul had indeed left the national territory at the request of Algeria" and that "the attitude of the Moroccan Consul was not surprising because he is a Moroccan intelligence officer".
