The Fourth Committee of the UN General Assembly adopted on Monday, without a vote, a draft resolution on the Sahara issue, presented by its Chairman, Ambassador of Nepal to the United Nations, Durga Prasad Bhattarai.

Equatorial Guinea welcomed on Friday at UN headquarters in New York, positive initiatives taken by Morocco to achieve a negotiated political solution to the Sahara issue.

Several experts and observers took the floor at the UN General Assembly 4th commission to affirm the “unrealistic” nature of the separation option as a solution to the Sahara issue, arguing that the Moroccan autonomy proposal remains the “hope for a way out to the crisis”.

Morocco reiterated before the UN fourth committee its steadfast attachment to the political process in the Moroccan Sahara, which necessarily depends on the UN Secretariat’s neutrality and MINURSO’s impartiality.
