Algeria fears autonomy in the Sahara

Michael Rubin, an expert at the (Naval Postgraduate School's Center for Civil-Military Relations) said in an analysis published on (CNN) webpage that Algeria opposes autonomy plan in the Sahara for fear that this solution would be unprecedented at level of its internal policy, pointing out that Algeria sees Polisario as tool to serve its hegemony ambitions in the region .

The United States of America "clearly" said Friday that the Moroccan autonomy plan for the Sahara is "serious, realistic and credible , and represents a potential approach that could satisfy the aspirations of the people of the Sahara to manage their own affairs in peace and dignity," said the joint statement by the United States of America and the Kingdom of Morocco, following the Summit meeting between His Majesty King Mohammed VI and President Barack Obama at the White House.
