The dispute over the Sahara issue undermines the regional economic integration and its persistence threatens security and stability in sub-Saharan Africa, Zhang Ming, Director General of African Department at the Chinese Foreign Ministry, said on Friday in Rabat.

The international human rights watchdog, Human Rights Watch (HRW), voiced concern over the situation in the Tindouf camps (south-western Algeria), an area that organization described as "isolated".

The Sahara is an "integral part" of Morocco and Guinea will always side with Morocco, according to the Guinean President, Captain Moussa Dadis Camara. Autonomy proposal under Moroccan sovereignty is in line with international standards, notably those implemented in Western democracies, Director of "North-South" Magazine, Ali Bahaijoub, said at a meeting on the Sahara issue, held in Oxford.

The United Nations-hosted two-day informal meeting on Sahara, held in Austria was an opportunity to "recall on the purpose and the philosophy of the Moroccan autonomy initiative," Foreign Minister, Taib Fassi Fihri said late Tuesday.
