The United Nations affirmed Friday that Mr. Peter Van Walsum is still the UN mediator concerning the Sahara issue and that “his status has not changed”.

The Secretary General of the Royal Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Dr. Maouelainin Ben khalihenna Maouelainin, received on Friday July 18th, 2008, at the Council headquarters, a delegation of central African journalists.

The President of the Advisory Council for Saharan Affairs (CORCAS), Mr. Khallihenna Ould Errachid, had a discussion, Tuesday in Rabat, with the Chairman of the Central American Parliament (Parlacen), Mr. Julio Gonzalez Gamarra.

The extraordinary and plenipotentiary Ambassador of Portugal in Morocco, M. Joao Rosa La, has indicated that “the Sahara issue is one of the obstacles to the Maghreb regional integration deepening”, reminding that the Portuguese government welcomed the Moroccan autonomy initiative

The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Taieb Fassi Fihri has presented, Friday evening, to the Committee in charge of Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Islamic Affairs, at the Chamber of Representatives, upon the request of parliamentary groups, a presentation about many issues, at the top of them the recent developments relating to the Moroccan Sahara issue and the Union project for the Mediterranean.
