President of Mali, Amadou Toumani Touré has hailed as "courageous" Morocco's proposal to grant autonomy to its Southern Provinces -the Sahara- saying that such initiative would help settle the 32-year old dispute over the former Spanish colony.

In order to bring an effective assistance to populations in the tindouf camps HCR’s mandate, and its executive comity resolutions should be put into practice ,  The request was made by Mr. Lotfi Bouchaara, member of the permanent mission of the Kingdom of Morocco to the United Nations, before the third committee of the General Assembly, stressing that effective assistance to the population held in those camps hinges on implementing the mandate of the HCR and the resolutions of its executive commission.
